Centre Algarve - Diving Spots
The diving zone at Central Algarve zone, covers the area between Ponta da Piedade and Albufeira. This geographical area has two characteristic meteorological conditions described for the Barlavento, particularly up to the Lagos zone, and the Sotavento from Lagos to the East, although less accentuated.
The diving sites are comprised of large, long rocky structures, rich in nutrients and full with varied and multicoloured sea life.
The waters are teeming with dozens of species of fish, including gilthead bream, white seabream, bream, rainbow wrasse, ballan wrasse, salemas, goby and scorpion fish. Invertebrates of various shapes and colours can also be seen at all the sites.
The wealth of the waters also means less perfect visibility than those of the Sotavento, varying, in general, from four to six meters. However, visibility can reach dozens of meters in good sea conditions, particularly during Spring and Autumn.
